And there have it. Are these woods? I don’t know. Hope and I call this area “the outback.”
Our neighborhood – North Star Ranch in Murrieta, CA – backs up against it. So, to get to this dandy of a spot we need to walk about 1/4 mile. There are a few hills so a wimp like me treats it like the Bataan Death March.
I shouldn’t joke like that, I apologize. We’re watching the series on Netflix, Hunters, with Al Pacino – about a group of Jews who hunt Nazis in America after the war. Nazis – it’s beyond my imagination how anyone can do what they did – the raw cruelty – but if you look at human history, it’s full of examples.
- American Indian genocide
- Slavery
- The Inquisition
- Salem witch trials
- The Crusades
- Stalin’s genocide
And don’t get me started about all the major corporations – many household names like IBM and Bayer and Porsche and the Associated Press – that colluded with the Nazis, even after the war started and everyone knew what was going on. Incredible.
But hey! This is just a peaceful amateur photo taken in the countryside near my house in little ole Murrieta. I sat here the other day to just chill out. Turns out that simply chilling out is a massive blessing when you consider how many unfortunate souls do not have the luxury.
