Photos from the Rio Carnival 2008

Although Carnivals is celebrated in towns and villages throughout Brazil and other Catholic countries, Rio de Janeiro has long been regarded as the Carnival Capital of the World. The Rio Carnaval is not only the largest Carnival, benchmarked against basically every other carnival, when compared it is also one of the most interesting artistic events in the world. Pretty much everyone interested in Carnivals has heard of the Rio Carnival. Foreign visitors to it alone number over 500,000 every single year.
