The Irish Wolfhound is a breed of domestic dog. The name originates from its purpose (wolf hunting) rather than from its appearance. Irish Wolfhounds are very tall. Therefore, although the arguments as to whether the “largest” dog should refer to the height or the weight of the breed still go on, Irish wolfhounds are definitely should be considered to be one of the largest dog breeds in the world.
